In a place famed for it's moules and considering the ease of preparation and cheapness of the basic ingredidents, how disappointed I was with our dinner. We looked in loads of restaurants all with massively extortionate prices. We settled on a set menu of 500g of moules cooked with celery, parsley and butter with chips and a drink. 12.90 euros. More like a starter really. Frites weren't even home made. If you wanted moules mariniere it would have cost you 24 euros!!!! You can buy 1kg of mussels in sainsburys for 3.49. As such we are very much still hungry and ate the few remaining crisps from our drive to dover. Disappointing.
We had one of the biggest lightening storms I've ever been caught it. Absolutely hammered down, which then turned into very large hail. I caught it all on camera.
Big day tomorrow, which is going to be the toughest one yet. Four single chevron hills and 75 miles. Not really a holiday hey.
What, no Big Macs, Whoppers, KFC, or Pizza Huts available?
ReplyDeleteI appreciate you would want to try the local food, but let that be a lesson for you in big touristy areas! They only exist becuase they rip-off tourists (or cyclists passing through!). Buy a large bag of nuts and raisins tomorrow, on your travels - just in case.
Must say, I enjoyed my barbecued sirloin steak and jacket potato tonight.
